Eclipse operator approved for paperless cockpit on Part 135 flights

CHARLESTON, S.C., 20 April 2012. North American Jet Charter Group (NAJ) has been approved for a paperless cockpit on Part 135 flights. The Apple iPad now serves as the electronic flight bag (EFB) for all Eclipse Jets operated by NAJ, the largest North American operator of Eclipse Aerospace’s Eclipse Jet.

NAJ pilots have the option to use Foreflight or Jeppesen en route and approach charts and paperless versions of General Operating Manuals and Minimum Equipment Lists, all of which are stored and referenced through the iPad interface.

NAJ, certified for single-pilot Part 135 operations, takes maximum advantage of the advanced technology provided by the Eclipse Twin-Engine Jet. Pilots use the Eclipse Integrated Flight Management System for primary display, systems management, and flight management operations. The new Eclipse EFB iPad solution provides for a robust, paperless secondary backup device for flight management and navigation guidance, in addition to saving more than 35 pounds of paper per aircraft.

Paperless solutions for the Eclipse cockpit have received an overwhelming response by the pilot community. More than 300 Eclipse pilots and operators have activated the Eclipse iPad application; more than 65 percent of the entire Eclipse fleet now employs the Eclipse QRA iPad app.
