VILNIUS, Lithuania, 22 April 2012. Aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) specialist FL Technics in Vilnius, Lithuania, will provide line maintenance through 2015 for nine Airbus A319 aircraft operated by easyJet plc in Luton, England under terms of a three-year agreement signed this month.
FL Technics subsidiary Storm Aviation will handle line maintenance on the easyJet A319 single-aisle passenger jets at Manchester Airport and Newcastle International Airport in the United Kingdom. The easyJet airline is the second largest low-cost carrier in Europe. Manchester Airport is one of the busiest airports in Europe.
Storm will provide line maintenance support for six easyJet Airbus A319 aircraft at Manchester Airport, and for three easyJet A319s at Newcastle International Airport in Northeast England. FL Technics also handles maintenance for Emirates and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines at Newcastle.
Aircraft line maintenance pertains to minor or scheduled maintenance on aircraft that are in service and preparing for their first flights after being out of service; in service between flights; readying for the first flight of the day; or that need maintenance to ensure they are airworthy and fit for flight.
Aircraft line maintenance, however, does not pertain to major aircraft repairs or overhauls that would require taking the aircraft out of service for extended periods.
The Airbus A319, which is similar in size to a Boeing 737, is a single-aisle twin-engine passenger jetliner. It seats 124 to 156 passengers, has a range of nearly 4,300 miles, is 111 feet long, and has a wingspan of 112 feet.
FL Technics holds EASA certificates for integrated narrow- and wide-body aircraft MRO services: EASA Part 145 (maintenance organization approval), EASA Part 147 (maintenance training and examination organization approval), EASA Part M (continuing airworthiness management organization approval) and the newly obtained Part 21 (design organization approval).
