HUNTSVILLE, Ala., 4 June 2012. GE Intelligent Platforms in Huntsville, Ala., is introducing dual-core versions of the company's 6U SBC625, XVR15, and XCR15 single-board computers with quad-core 3rd Generation Intel Core processors. The three embedded computing products also are available with the dual-core Intel Core i7-3555LE and Intel Core i7-3517UE processors.

The SBC625 is a 6U VPX board, the XCR15 is a 6U CompactPCI board, and the XVR15 is a 6U VME board. The three embedded computing products are designed for processing power, graphics capability, I/O bandwidth and functional density in military embedded systems such as avionics, command and control; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR); sonar and radar processing; and high-performance digital signal processing (DSP).

The boards are compatible with their predecessors, and deliver as much as 15 percent greater computational horsepower, as well as 50 percent improved 3D graphics performance. Some offer support for USB 3.0 and provide as much as 10 times the data transfer throughput of USB 2.0.

Power consumption and heat dissipation are identical to preceding products, and are for applications in which size, weight, and power (SWaP) is a design issue. The boards are available in five build levels, from air cooled to conduction cooled.

The three new single-board computers have Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX), as much as 16 gigabytes of DDR3 memory, and a solid state disk drive of 16 gigabytes capacity. I/O options include Gigabit Ethernet, SATA, DVI, VGA and audio, as well as two mezzanine XMC/PMC sites.

Software support includes Windows 7, Open Linux, Wind River Linux, and Wind River VxWorks.
