LAS VEGAS, 7 Aug. 2012. FLIR Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:FLIR) is presenting new products and features from its OEM group at AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America 2012. FLIR’s OEM group designs and manufactures shortwave, midwave, and longwave infrared camera cores, laser illuminators, and rangefinders; high-performance pan/tilts; and other components essential to the control and mission-critical success of unmanned vehicles.

FLIR Quark is the smallest fully-integrated, longwave infrared (LWIR) camera available, according to a FLIR spokesperson. Quark’s Silent Shutterless Non-Uniformity Correction with Advanced AGC Algorithms results in a solid-state thermal camera with VGA resolution.

FLIR also offers a new 7.5-millimeter lens for the Tau 2 in resolutions of 324 x 256, 336 x 256 and 640 x 512. The lens expands situational awareness; with a field of view as wide as 90 x 69 (Tau 2 640), unmanned vehicle operators are able to react earlier and faster to feedback from the scene.

FLIR’s new MLR2K and MLR10K miniature, solid-state, 1550nm laser rangefinders, combine performance with revolutionary size, weight, and power (SWaP), says a representative. The lasers provide single-shot ranging of moving targets in a small, lightweight package, and generate accurate distance measurements from high-energy, single-shot laser pulses for faster responses.
