L-3 finishes acquisition of Thales' Civil Aircraft Simulation and Training

NEW YORK, 11 Aug. 2012. L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) has completed the acquisition of Thales Training & Simulation Ltd’s civil aircraft simulation and training business. The company paid $130 million, subject to certain contractual adjustments to the purchase price, and was funded with cash on hand.

The business, which is now known as L-3 Link Simulation & Training U.K. Limited, will become a part of L-3’s existing Link Simulation & Training division, which is part of L-3’s Electronic Systems Group. L-3 Link Simulation & Training U.K. Limited has its main office and production facility in Crawley, U.K., and has a global customer base. The unit’s civil aircraft simulation solutions feature a suite of devices that meet every aspect of flight and maintenance crew training requirements.

L-3 Link Simulation & Training UK produces the modular and customizable RealitySeven Full Flight Simulator, which today is supporting civil aircraft aircrew training worldwide.

Headquartered in New York City, L-3 Communications is a prime contractor in C4ISR systems, aircraft modernization and maintenance, and national security solutions. L-3 is also a leading provider of a range of electronic systems used on military and commercial platforms.
