An advanced information management system on e-enabled aircraft improve overall flight operations with the customized, integrated communications management of flight operations, data communication services, cabin services, and maintenance, diagnostics, and safety information. The information management system consists of 20 line replaceable units (LRUs), including electronic flight bags (EFBs), a cellular Terminal Wireless LAN (cTWLU) system, Cabin Wireless LAN (CWLU) systems, an Iridium satellite communications system, and Avionics Interface Device (AID)--all of which are capable of interfacing with existing aircraft systems.

Engineering has started for the 777-200/300/300ER fleet and will incorporate the A320, A330, A340, and 747-400/8F fleets. The initial Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the 777 aircraft is scheduled to be completed in May 2013.

"The ARINC e-enabled system represents some of the most sophisticated flight deck technology developed in decades,” says Dean Rudolph, L2 vice president of operations.
