BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, 1 Sept. 2012. Aerolineas Argentinas has become an official member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, an organization that aims to give frequent business travelers more flexibility and more choices for international travel. This move builds on a strategy to offer customers access to an extensive global network.

From its home base in Buenos Aires, Aerolineas Argentinas flies to 18 international destinations in Europe, the South Pacific and the Americas. Along with Austral Lineas Aereas, Aerolineas operates flights to 34 destinations in Argentina. As part of SkyTeam, Aerolineas customers can reach the world through connections on Delta and the other 16 SkyTeam members, accessing SkyTeam’s more than 993 destinations worldwide.

By welcoming Aerolineas Argentinas into SkyTeam, other members are offering increased travel options to and from Argentina. This new partnership gives SkyTeam a considerable footprint in South America.

Prior to joining SkyTeam, Aerolineas Argentinas embarked on a turnaround program that included newer aircraft, revised branding and significant product enhancements. In May Delta and Aerolineas announced the introduction of reciprocal accrual and redemption benefits for Delta SkyMiles and Aerolineas Plus members.

Aerolineas Argentinas' membership and integration into the global airline alliance is sponsored by Delta, founding member of SkyTeam.
