LONDON, 4 Sept. 2012. OAG, a provider of aviation information and analytical services, is providing the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) with its OAG Analyser, an online tool for extracting information from airline schedule data.
The tool interrogates OAG's databases to deliver advanced data analysis functionality. AFRAA gains quick access to detailed reports, ranging from airline and airport route development trends to aircraft usage patterns.
"Airline capacity in Africa is increasing by an average of 5% a year and the average GDP growth rate in the continent is also at 5%, which shows the market offers encouraging potential and signs of growth,” Rob Shaw, OAG's director of analytics, says. “By providing AFRAA with OAG Analyser to help with the association's market research, we're pleased to assist the region's industry in better understanding how to meet the demands of that growth."
In related news, OAG has joined AFRAA's partnership program. The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) is a trade organization of airlines from the member states of the African Union (AU). Founded in Accra, Ghana, in April 1968, and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, the primary purpose of AFRAA is to foster commercial and technical cooperation among African airlines and to represent their common interests. AFRAA membership cuts across the entire continent and includes all the major intercontinental African operators. The Association members represent 83% of total international traffic carried by African airlines.
