ROCKVILLE, Md., 8 Jan. 2013. Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) won from NATS, an air traffic control (ATC) company in the United Kingdom, a seven-year contract extension to continue support of air traffic management systems based at Swanwick and Prestwick control centers, as well as the NATS flight data processing system.

Lockheed Martin engineers provide services such as systems architecture and engineering, software development, laboratory support, and systems integration.

"Our controllers are looking after aircraft in some of the busiest and most complex airspace anywhere in the world, so they need systems they can rely on. Throughout the years, we have built a very close partnership with Lockheed Martin, and I am delighted to see this continue," says Martin Rolfe, NATS managing director, operations.

Lockheed Martin-built systems currently manage more than 60 percent of the world's air traffic, according to a company spokesperson.
