CHICAGO, 17 Jan. 2013.LOT Polish Airlines has achieved two firsts related to the Boeing 787 Dreamlinercommercial aircraft, the subject of controversy this week.
LOT Polish Airlines representatives are laying claim to two achievements: the first airline to offer scheduled Boeing 787 Dreamliner nonstop service from Chicago's O'Hare Airport and the first European carrier to operate the Dreamliner.
LOT's Dreamliner inaugural flight from Chicago to Warsaw yesterday will be followed closely by Toronto on Feb. 1 and New York's JFK airport on Feb 3. The flights were previously operated with B767s.
"Every time a plane takes off from or lands at one of our airports, Chicago's economy benefits and grows," explains Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. "This flight is going to expand Chicago's connections to Poland and create new opportunity, both here and in Europe, and I will continue to work to foster more connections in the future."
LOT's Dreamliner has 18 seats in Elite Club (business class), 21 in Premium Club (premium economy), and 213 seats in economy class.
The airline’s fleet will feature eight Dreamliner aircraft when Boeing fills outstanding orders.
