GENEVA, Switzerland, 20 Jan. 2013. Aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) specialist Jet Aviation Geneva in Geneva, Switzerland, has received Part-145 approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in Koeln, Germany, to provide line and base maintenance to Gulfstream G650 business jet.
The approval authorizes Jet Aviation Geneva to provide maintenance, alterations and repair services to the new ultra-long-range, ultra-large-cabin Gulfstream G650 general aviation private jet.
The Gulfstream G650 fast, long-range business jet received its provisional type certificate (PTC) from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Washington, in late 2011. Customer deliveries began last year.
"This is an important service expansion for Gulfstream customers and operators in the region," says Cyril Martiniere, managing director and accountable manager for Jet Aviation Geneva.
The G650 can fly as far as 7,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 from runways as short as 6,000 feet. With a top speed of Mach 0.925, the G650 is among the world's fastest civilian jets.
Introduced in 2008, the G650 carries eight passengers and a crew of four, and can link city pairs such as Dubai with New York, and London with Buenos Aires. The business jet has Rolls-Royce BR725 engines.
The G650 avionics includes Enhanced Vision System (EVS) II, the Head-Up Display (HUD) II and the synthetic vision-primary flight display (SV-PFD). Its Planeview II cockpit comes with a Triplex flight management system, automatic emergency descent mode, 3-D weather radar, and other advanced flight controls for pilot situational awareness and safety.
