Marshall Aerospace to provide avionics repair and other MRO work for Austrian Air Force C-130K turboprops
CAMBRIDGE, England, 27 Jan. 2013. Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group in Cambridge, England, has started maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) work on the first of three Austrian Air Force C-130K Hercules four-engine turboprop aircraft to provide avionics modifications and other maintenance to address obsolescence issues and to overcome operational restrictions in European airspace.
On the Austrian C-130K, Marshall is replacing and installing the electronic attitude director indicator (EADI) and electronic horizontal situation indicator (EHSI) displays, the autopilot, and a standby flight instrument.
Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group’s relationship with the Austrian air force dates back to 2000, when the Austrians bought and modified C-130Ks -- all former United Kingdom Royal Air Force aircraft. Marshall has since been performing maintenance work for the Austrian Air Force since then.
Marshall is a sister design authority to C-130 builder Lockheed Martin Corp. for the C-130K family and, as the systems integrator on this program, is managing a supply chain.
Marshall technicians will do the work on the three aircraft in line with maintenance inputs, with delivery and return to service of the third aircraft expected in early 2015.
