BLAGNAC, France, 3 Feb. 2013.Passenger turboprop manufacturer Avions de Transport Regional (ATR) at Toulouse Blanc International Airport, France, has signed a global maintenance agreement with Austrian air carrier InterSky in Bregenz, Austria to provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the airline's ATR aircraft for the next five years.
The agreement covers the supply of spare parts and maintenance services for InterSky's two new ATR 72-600s. The first ATR-600 was delivered to the airline in January, with the second one expected in March.
Under this contract, ATR will manage the equipment, including the repair of line replaceable units (LRUs), the maintenance and availability of propellers, the advanced exchange pool of services, plus an inventory of spare parts on lease at InterSky’s premises.
The twin-engine ATR 72–600 turboprop carries 68 to 74 passengers, two crew members, and a maximum range of 715 nautical miles. The aircraft is 89 feet long, has a wingspan of 89 feet, can fly at speeds to 318 276 knots at altitudes as high as 25,000 feet.
The ATR-72-600 has Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127M engines, glass cockpit flight deck featuring five wide liquid crystal displays, multi-purpose computer, Thales avionics, and light comfortable seats.
InterSky will benefit from guaranteed availability of spares, reduced maintenance costs, and simplified maintenance procedures, with ATR as a single channel, ATR officials say.
InterSky is a regional airline connecting the Lake Constance area to German cities like Berlin, Dusseldorf, and Hamburg, as well as from Austria’s Vienna and Graz to Zurich.
With the purchase of two new ATR 72-600s the InterSky fleet will grow up to five aircraft, additionally to the current three Dash 8-300s.
ATR manufactures regional aircraft with 90 seats or fewer, and has sold more than 1,200 aircraft and has more than 180 operators based in more than 90 countries.
