Avionics multi-protocol I/O module for labs, flight simulators, and embedded computing introduced by GE

GE Intelligent Platforms in Huntsville, Ala., is introducing the RAR15-XMC multi-protocol embeddable avionics module, which is designed to save space, weight. and power as well as deliver cost-effectiveness and reliability in avionics laboratories, flight simulators, and embedded computing applications.

GE Intelligent Platforms in Huntsville, Ala., is introducing the RAR15-XMC multi-protocol embeddable avionics module, which is designed to save space, weight. and power as well as deliver cost-effectiveness and reliability in avionics laboratories, flight simulators, and embedded computing applications.

Featuring MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 protocols on one Express Mezzanine Card (XMC) form factor, the RAR15-XMC is the result of one of several custom developments undertaken on behalf of major prime contractors and systems integrators, and is now available as a standard, off-the-shelf product.

The board features advanced application programming interface (API) software for Windows 7, Vista, XP (32- and 64-bit), Linux, Integrity, and VxWorks.

Other standard features of the RAR15-XMC include 8 megabytes of RAM, 64-bit message time tagging, BC and RT link-list structures, error injection and detection, automatic and manual RT Status bit and mode code responses, and advanced BC functionality.

The RAR15-XMC bus monitors provide error detection and 100 percent monitoring of loaded buses. Four dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553A and B notice II channels, 10 ARINC 429 receive channels, and eight ARINC 429 transmit channels are provided.

On-board firmware, large data buffers, and the advanced API help monitor and generate ARINC bus traffic. Simultaneous scheduled and burst mode (FIFO) messaging is supported on all ARINC 429 transmit channels. Each ARINC 429 receive channel provides simultaneous dedicated and buffered mode storage, along with label and SDI filtering.
