PORTLAND, Ore., 18 May 2013.U.S. Coast Guard officials sought a forward-looking infrared (FLIR), electro-optical sensor system for its fleet of Sikorsky H-60 Jayhawk and Eurocopter H-65 Dolphin rotorcraft, which have already been modernized with upgraded avionics suites from Rockwell Collins and other industry firms.

FLIR Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:FLIR) won a $23 million U.S. Coast Guard order to support the Electro-Optical Sensor System (ESS) configuration of FLIR's commercially developed, military-qualified Talon 9-inch stabilized multi-sensor gimbal system.

The ESS systems will be deployed on the Coast Guard's H-60 and H-65 helicopters.

Work will be performed at FLIR's facility in Billerica, Mass., with shipments to be completed by the end of the year.

"This order is a continuation of our longstanding support of the multiple missions of the Department of Homeland Security," affirms FLIR President and CEO Earl Lewis. "We have a proven ability to provide state of the art imaging technologies that are critical to protecting people and are developed on a commercial basis, which results in reduced delivery time and lower prices for our customers."
