LONDON, 12 Sept. 2013. General Dynamics UK, an integrator of airborne tactical systems, and Blue Bear Systems Research Limited, maker of algorithms for autonomous vehicle operations, are developing flight control systems for remotely piloted air systems (RPAS).

General Dynamics UK, with experience integrating airborne mission/tactical systems, has developed a family of Compact Modular Computers (CMC). One CMC variant is a safety-critical processing platform for hosting autonomy algorithms, such as those provided by Blue Bear Systems Research, that command the flight control systems of RPAS.

“Remotely piloted air systems have applications in both defence and security situations, and they will become of increasing importance in the years ahead. Our 50 years’ avionics expertise, coupled with Blue Bear’s experience of remotely controlled systems, will help ensure we deliver world-leading flight systems to our customers for these vital applications,” says Steve Rowbotham, chief operating officer of General Dynamics UK.
