MONTREAL, 2 Dec. 2013. The U.S. and aerospace have been inseparable, from birth, explains Ambassador Duane E. Woerth, U.S. permanent representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) council at the Aerospace Innovation Forum in Montreal.
Innovations and innovators have worked to make aerospace and air travel safer, more secure, and more sustainable. “The U.S. is an aerospace nation in every sense of the word. It is a driver of the economy, international partnerships, and innovation.”
In the U.S., more than 500,000 people work in aerospace. In fact, aerospace supports more jobs in exports than any other industry in the U.S. It is the largest of any manufacturing industry in our country, Woerth says.
The future outlook is promising for aerospace. Aerospace strengthens defense, adds tax revenue, and strengthens the workforce and the entire manufacturing sector.
“Aerospace is a critical link that binds countries together,” Woerth adds. “The aerospace supply chain is global, integrated, and complex and must work with government and communities. Public and private partnerships are essential.”
Aerospace plays an important and critical role in the U.S. economy, international partnerships, and innovation, Woerth concludes.
