WIRRAL, U.K., 19 Dec. 2013. LDRA, a provider of standards compliance, automated software verification, source code analysis, and test tools, has secured contracts with five major, but as yet unnamed, avionics suppliers in Russia—a region that is proactively growing its aerospace marketshare.

Under the new contracts, users will employ LDRA resources to help verify avionics solutions comply with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations related to fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft.

In Russia, the LDRA tool suite has been used to verify systems for onboard computers, integrated air data, integrated flight and navigation, data display, lighting, in addition to various instruments and sensors for aircraft, such as the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100), Tupolev Tu-204 (TU-204), and the upcoming Irkut MC21 (also known as the MS21).

“LDRA’s track record of helping qualify hundreds of DO-178 projects worldwide gave us confidence that the LDRA tool suite would significantly improve our processes,” says Sergey Zhelepov, onboard software verification group leader for the Ulyanovsk Instrument Manufacturing Design Bureau (UIMDB) in Russia. “The LDRA tool suite has automated our verification process at every stage—for code verification, code coverage, unit testing, secure coding rules, and standards adherence—helping us to reduce the number of man hours in our certification efforts by 5 to 10 times.”

The LDRA tool suite automates and streamlines the certification process, helping these avionics suppliers achieve compaliance to such regulations as DO-178C/ED-12C and DO-254/ED-80 cost effectively, says a company spokesperson.

“These five Russian avionics suppliers join avionics vendors from the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and China in choosing the LDRA tool suite to streamline their avionics certification compliance,” explains LDRA Operations Director Ian Hennell. “Such widespread adoption of LDRA exists not only because of our superior tools, but also as a tribute to our extensive support and team of fully credentialed EASA and FAA certification experts who are available to assist with certification services.”

LDRA, having served the avionics community for roughly 40 years, provides a range of software testing and verification capabilities that enforce and streamline avionics certification compliance.
