HAIFA, Israel, 15 Jan. 2014. Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ:ESLT) won a roughly $15 million contract from the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) to upgrade the Israeli Air Force's (IAF) C-130H Hercules transport aircraft with a new digital cockpit, head-up display and radar system.

Work on the contract will be performed over a two-year period. Elbit Systems will supply the IAF with additional C-130H capabilities, which will allow the aircraft to meet the stringent international Communications Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) standard and operate in commercial airspace.

The upgraded capabilities will help ensure the IAF aircraft meets demanding international standards, including the CNS/ATM international commercial airspace management standard.

“We have witnessed a growing demand for operability of transport aircraft in commercial airspace and trust that further customers will require similar capabilities for their transport fleets," explains Yoram Shmuely, general manager of Elbit Systems’ Aerospace Division.
