PHOENIX, 20 Jan. 2014. A look at mergers and acquisitions is an early indicator of what is happening in the embedded computing industry, and 2013 was quiet; mergers and acquisitions were way down comparatively, explains Jerry Gipper, executive director of the VITA standards organization.

Gipper opened the 2014 Embedded Tech Trends conference today in Phoenix.

The embedded community gains new entrants all the time, as was evident at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The exhibition space spanned 2 million square feet, while the conference boasted 3,200 exhibitors and 150,000 attendees, of which 34,000 were international. “The 2014 International CES was the largest in the 46-year history,” Gipper explains.
