MILWAUKEE, Wis., 3 Feb. 2014. Engineers at SENER-INAER in Spain needed a cockpit display system for work on the AB212 Helicopter Life Extension Program of the Spanish Navy (PEVH-AB212). They found their solution at Astronautics Corp. of America in Milwaukee, Wis.

Engineers at SENER-INAER, a joint venture between the engineering and technology group SENER and INAER Helicópteros SAU, are upgrading seven Spanish Navy AB-212 helicopters. Astronautics’ newest Multi-Function Display System (MFDS) is an important part of the avionics used to modernize the Spanish Navy’s AB-212 helicopter under the AB-212 Helicopter Life Extension Program.

Astronautics’ MFDS includes four Electronic Flight Instruments (EFIs) and an Engine Data Concentrator Unit (EDCU). The EFIs display primary flight, navigation, and engine information, as well as offer the capability to receive and display video using several different video inputs. The EDCU converts engine and other system information to digital format so that it can be displayed on the EFI.

Astronautics Corp. of America in Milwaukee, Wis., is involved in the design, development, integration, and manufacture of state-of-the-art avionics equipment and systems—flight instruments, displays, computers, navigation systems, and more. Astronautics’ major product lines include Electronic Flight Instruments, Electronic Flight Bag Displays, Airborne Network Server Computers, Navigation Systems, Flight Instruments, Mission & Display

Systems, Multifunction Color Displays, Engine Displays, Flight Director Computers, Flight Control Systems, Aircraft and Missile Actuators, and Air Data Computers. Astronautics’ products are used for air, land, sea, and space applications.
