BROOMFIELD, Colo., 13 Feb. 2014. Aircell, Gogo’s (NASDAQ:GOGO) business aviation group, has surpassed 2,000 Gogo Biz system installations in the business aviation market.

“In less than five years, in-flight connectivity has become a “must-have” item – many of our customers won’t fly without it. People love the ability to stay connected and productive while they fly,” notes Blake Hogge, Jet Aviation’s senior manager of Avionics Sales in the U.S.

Aircell achieved this milestone four and one half years after the service’s introduction in June 2009, making it the most rapidly-adopted broadband service in business aviation history, says a spokesperson.

“The business aviation market’s passion for the service continues to exceed our expectations,” says John Wade, Aircell’s executive vice president and general manager. “This brings total adoption to more than 4,000 air-to-ground systems in the business aviation and commercial aviation markets.”

Jet Aviation, a member of Aircell’s global dealer network, performed the first Gogo Biz installation in 2009. The launch customer was a corporate aircraft operator based in the Midwest U.S.

Gogo Biz enables passengers and flight crews to enjoy Internet access above 10,000 feet in the continental U.S. and portions of Alaska, using their own Wi-Fi enabled laptops, tablets, smartphones, electronic flight bags, and other mobile devices. Optional voice services are available via cabin handsets or personal smartphones.

Gogo Biz service is expected to be available in portions of Canada beginning in the first quarter of 2014.
