SANTA BARBARA, Calif., 28 Feb. 2014. Rockwell Collins selected Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY-178 operating system (OS) for the development of its MFD-268P2B multi-function display for Sikorsky’s S-92 helicopter’s advanced cockpit avionics.

Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY-178 operating system is an ARINC-653-1 compliant, securely partitioned, real-time operating system (RTOS) is adopted for demanding safety-critical applications operating at different levels of criticality.

Green Hills Software, serving as subcontractor, delivered to Rockwell Collins the MFD-268P2B INTEGRITY-178 operating system. With new, advanced cockpit avionics, the S-92 helicopter is “full of new capabilities,” recognizes Pat Rodenbeck, vice president, safety and security critical products at Green Hills Software. The S-92 helicopter’s avionics can perform all these functions with the help of partitioning inherent in Green Hills’ INTEGRITY-178 secure operating system, he adds.

Further, Rodenbeck says, “all analysis and verification activities for the RTOS are performed by Green Hills Software on Rockwell Collins’ hardware, enabling the customer to take full credit for the vertification results provided by Green Hills Software.”
