AIM Avionics Databus Solutions expands portfolio with COTS-based test tool

FREIBURG, Germany, 1 March 2014. AIM’s Avionics Databus Solutions division has introduced a smart tool set for handling ARINC429 testing with system made up of standard AIM hardware and software solutions plus a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) computer platform.

The core component is based on AIM’s ANET429-x Ethernet- based databus interface. Users can operate with 4, 8, or 16 programmable ARINC429 channels via the wireless Ethernet interface.

"The new AIM ANET family of Ethernet-based avionics interfaces has an on-board LINUX operating system (OS). The platform hosting the Standard AIM PBA.pro software framework application is a Windows 8.1-based COTS tablet computer. Various models are available,

but as an example, an 8inch Quad Core IntelAtom platform provides a suitable offering and an excellent trade-off for size, weight, and performance for handheld applications,” explains Jo Schuler, general manager at AIM GmbH.

AIM also offers ANET solutions for MIL-STD-1553A/B and STANAG3910/EFEX applications.

The key advantage of such a platform is the execution of AIM’s standard PBA.pro Databus Test & Analysis Software with application-specific PBA.pro projects with panels/ GUIs (for maintenance tasks, pre-flight check out, data logger etc). Existing panels like the AIM

PBA.pro-Light or customer-created panels are also possible.

Various options of host platforms as well as the use of an encrypted wireless network offer a maximum of flexibility and mobility of applications for today’s Avionics Databus Solutions.
