SUNDSVALL, Sweden, 17 March 2014. navAero, having completed RTCA DO160-G testing for Electromagnetic Interference and Rapid Decompression on Apple iPad Air tablets, announces additional offerings of value-added services for deployment of tablet devices as Class 2 electronic flight bag (EFB) platforms.

The RTCA DO160-G testing is a value-added offering to navAero customers who request professional assistance in obtaining the required documentation that will enable them to gain FAA/EASA authorization for in-flight use of the tablet device.

Testing can be provided on either a single commercial sample as a one-off test, or on a commercial sample plus a letter of similarity and tracking/auditing capabilities based on serial and part number, to cover any other like tablet device acquired and included into the customer’s operational EFB environment. navAero service includes specific test plan and relevant documentation required by the authority. Testing results are provided as official documentation for operator use and are usually accomplished within 1 to 2 weeks after project initiation.

“The testing of the Apple iPad Air in addition to test that have already been accomplished on the fourth-generation iPad and the Samsung ATIV is an enhanced value-added service to our rapidly growing customer base,” explains Simone Giordano, navAero group vice president, sales and marketing. “Our ability to provide this offering enhances our overall EFB product portfolio as the aviation industry accelerates its acceptance of adopting tablet devices to function as Class 2 platforms. We are continuing to expand our testing services and will soon be providing test results on even more tablet devices.”
