CHARLOTTE, N.C., 10 April 2014. Florida-based Spirit Airlines has chosen UTC Aerospace Systems' Aerostructures business to provide maintenance services for its Airbus A320-family aircraft fleet powered by V2500 engines. The work will be performed at UTC Aerospace Systems' Alabama Service Center in Foley, Ala.
Under the three-year agreement, the Alabama Service Center will provide Spirit Airlines with assets to cover removal of nozzles during engine maintenance. The removed nozzles will be sent to the Alabama Service Center for service.
Spirit operates more than 50 Airbus A320-family aircraft and its fleet is among the youngest in the Americas, officials say.
"We value the trust in UTC Aerospace Systems and our Alabama Service Center that Spirit Airlines has shown by reaching this agreement for nozzle maintenance," says Marc Duvall, president of UTC Aerospace Systems' Aerostructures business unit. "With a ready pool of rotable nozzle assets and unmatched service, we are pleased that Spirit Airlines recognizes the value that we can provide them."
