GOOSE CREEK, S.C., 10 July 2014. TRU Simulation + Training Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, has acquired ProFlight LLC, a provider of advanced pilot training and FAA-approved Part 142 training center in Carlsbad, Calif.
ProFlight specializes in Cessna Citation CJ Series training and Cessna Conquest Series training, as well as offers a continuous currency program that provides pilots greater training flexibility and year-round proficiency. Founded in 1988 by professional pilot instructors who saw a need for high-quality flight training at a lower cost, ProFlight has trained thousands of pilots and continues to grow as its innovative training model appeals to a broad range of pilots, from owner operators to corporate aviation departments, officials say. ProFlight will continue to operate from its Carlsbad facility.
“ProFlight is a valued customer of TRU Simulation + Training and many of its customers are Cessna pilots,” says James Takats, TRU Simulation + Training Inc. president and CEO. “This acquisition allows us to better leverage our manufacturing, product, and service expertise to bring the best and most comprehensive pilot training to current and future Textron Aviation customers.”
TRU Simulation + Training Inc. provides high-fidelity aviation simulation and training solutions to the civil and military markets. TRU Simulation + Training Inc. was formed out of three legacy companies: Mechtronix Inc. in Montreal, Quebec, and OPINICUS Corp. in Tampa, Fla., which were acquired by Textron in 2013, and a portion of AAI Logistics & Technical Services, an operating unit of Textron Systems.
“Integrating ProFlight’s capabilities into our organization better positions TRU Simulation + Training to meet the increased demand for pilot and aircraft maintenance training over the coming years – delivering more value for Textron shareholders,” Takats says.
