FARNBOROUGH, England, 11 July 2014. Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co. (NYSE:CR), is on hand at Farnborough International Airshow demonstrating its latest products, including an integrated tire pressure and brake temperature monitoring system the company is supplying to Boeing as an option for all 737 MAX models.

The Tire Pressure and Brake Temperature Monitoring System (TBMS) uses SmartStem technology to provide enhanced wireless tire pressure monitoring as well as new, more accurate, adaptive brake temperature monitoring. Airline customers can also select only the tire pressure indication system (TPIS) or the brake temperature indication system (BTMS) as stand-alone options for 737 MAX production aircraft.

“Continual monitoring of tire pressure with Crane’s SmartStem Tire Pressure technology improves safety, increases tire life, and reduces the chance of operating with underinflated tires,” says Rick Jones, Aerospace Group senior vice president for Crane. “And, continual adaptive brake temperature monitoring provides accurate brake temperatures to ensure safe and timely dispatch, as well as indication of dragging or inoperative brakes. We are very pleased to offer both of these solutions for the new 737 MAX.”

The SmartStem Wireless Tire Pressure Indication System is standard on Boeing 787 and 777 airplanes, and is also standard on the upcoming COMAC C-919. It is also offered as a retrofit solution for a variety of in-service aircraft including the Next Generation 737, 747-400, and 777, as well as numerous business and regional jets.
