FARNBOROUGH, England, 15 July 2014. Elbit Systems officials are demonstrating solutions designed to meet the changing requirements of the defense and commercial aviation industries at Farnborough International Airshow 2014.

The company’s exhibition (booth C-14, Hall 1) is focuses on advanced, next-generation airborne solutions for pilot situational awareness and enhanced flight protection and safety. An array of cutting-edge solutions for commercial aviation are being showcased alongside avionic systems, advanced electronic warfare, electro-optics and unmanned systems, demonstrating leadership in the Company's core business areas.

Hands-on experience, live demonstrations and displays of cutting-edge solutions for commercial aviation are being presented, including:

  • ClearVision head-up display (HUD) - an electro-optic device that presents aircraft data over a transparent glass
  • ClearVision enhanced vision system (EVS) - enables takeoff and land in low visibility conditions
  • SKYLENS - lightweight, easy-to-install device, as intuitive as a pair of sunglasses
  • SkyVis - a new system combining a proven helmet-mounted display (HMD) with commercially certifiable line-of-sight (LOS) technology and daytime HUD capabilities
  • ClearVision SVS - synthetic vision based on full database of runways, obstacles, terrain and flight plan information; ready to be displayed on-time and on-need
  • Large Area Display (LAD) - a 19x8.25-inch unique large area display, dual redundant, touch-screen enabled and featuring a wide dimming range for night vision goggle compatibility at low luminance levels

Elbit training and simulation solutions at FIA14 include:

  • Mission Training Center (MTC) is considered among the most advanced training centers in the world. The system enables training in various mission scenarios in varying war zones and in the relevant threat environment of each war zone. The center has been established by Elbit Systems and is operated through a PFI (Private Financing Initiative) concept.
  • Elbit Systems CockpitNG is based on a smart central large area display (LAD) which includes all avionic components in one suite, fully integrated with the Helmet Mounted and Head-Up Displays. All the systems' components were developed in a "Multi-touch-Screen" technology, allowing pilots to operate the aircraft in the most smooth and customizable manner.
  • Targo Helmet Mounted Avionics (HMA) and EVA (Embedded Virtual Avionics) is a unique combination for a fully embedded training experience. Targo enables pilots to plan, rehearse, fly and debrief using their personal helmets. Installing EVA on a basic or advanced trainer aircraft transforms the aircraft into a virtual advanced fighter while maintaining the hourly training costs of a trainer. The EVA virtual avionics suite combined with Targo is designed to shorten the large training gap existing today between trainer and modern fighter aircraft.
  • The In-Flight Electronic Warfare Simulator (IFEWSTM) enables maximized operational readiness to support compliance with the requirements of modern battlefield environment variables. IFEWS implementation and deployment minimizes the need for EW range build-up, range upgrades and ongoing maintenance. A deployed IFEWS system provides an advanced training solution, which can be utilized wherever and whenever it is required.

Elbit’s self-protection solutions at FIA14 include:

  • C-MUSIC (Multi-Spectral Infrared Countermeasure system) is a pod-mounted direct infra-red countermeasures (DIRCM) system specifically designed to protect large jet aircraft from infrared missile threats. The pod integrates advanced fiber laser and thermal imaging technologies to deflect shoulder-fired IR missiles (MANPADS) from their intended target. C-MUSIC has been selected by the Israeli Ministry of Transportation as the protection suite for all Israel's commercial airlines.
  • J-MUSIC is a high-performance DIRCM system for protection of aircraft against MANPADS, designed for distributed installation on a wide variety of medium to large platforms, with single or multi-turret configuration.
  • Mini-MUSIC is the newest member in Elbit Systems Intelligence and Electro-optics Elop's MUSIC family of proven DIRCM systems. Lightweight and compact, mini-MUSIC is easily installed on small and medium rotary and fixed-wing platforms.
  • MRJ (Miniature Reactive Jammer) family is a group of reactive systems that can be configured as reactive, active ‒ or as a simultaneous combination of both ‒ in order to jam RCIEDs.
  • ALL-in-SMALL is a complete self-protection suite for helicopters and transporters, integrated EW Suite in one single LRU, with comprehensive, advanced, EW capabilities.

Elbit signals intelligence (SIGINT) payloads for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) designed to meet the full range of UAS tactical and strategic mission requirements, include:

  • SKYJAM – An airborne COMJAM system, SKYJAM is modular, flexible, and configured to handle emerging threats. The system can manage multiple frequency sub-bands prepared with predefined threat lists and jamming priorities.
  • SKYFIX – A compact fully featured, lightweight, high-precision and modular airborne COMINT/DF system, SkyFix is designed to meet the full range of UAS tactical and strategic mission requirements.

Elbit Systems’ UAS have earned international recognition and play increasingly vital roles in the global war on terrorism. The Company's UAS are the backbone of the Israel Defense Forces and other world leading armed forces, officials say.

The following UAS are being showcased in Hologram format at FIA14:

  • Hermes 900: a next-generation, medium-altitude long endurance (MALE) UAS, offering persistent, multi-mission, multi-payload capabilities with class leading payload carrying capacity
  • Hermes 450: a high performance, deployable, mature, reliable, high capacity, long endurance, multi-payload multi-role tactical UAS

Elbit’s family of Intelligence and EW Systems for Cellular Communications are designed to scan areas of interest; monitor, locate, and identify potential threats; construct cellular target maps; intercept target devices; and selectively jam and manipulate cellular communications. These systems are designed for Special Forces in military, law enforcement and intelligence units.

EMERALD (AES-210) is a full-featured airborne ESM/ELINT system for the modern air force ensuring mission-readiness in the most challenging scenarios. Incorporating Elbit’s Systems EW and SIGNINT Elisra’s field-driven innovations and proven technologies, Emerald delivers the intelligence critical for effective prevention, fast response and powerful impact. The Emerald is installable on a variety of platforms for numerous applications.

iSNS Immune Satellite Navigation System is a GPS ECCM system that ensures reliable, non-stop GPS operation, provides full jamming immunity for multiple satellite channels and handles multiple interfering signals and/or jammers operating on concurrent frequencies.
