DUBAI, U.A.E., 25 July 2014. Skyguide and COMSOFT officials have entered into a partnership to advance aeronautical information management (AIM) and COMSOFT’s AIM core product CADAS-AIMDB, designed to assist air navigation service providers (ANSPs) as they implement the ICAO AIS to AIM roadmap.
The two companies’ officials announced the partnership during the seventh International Federation of Aeronautical Information Management Associations (IFAIMA) Global AIM trade fair in Dubai. The event, hosted by Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS) and EUROCONTROL, attracted more than 300 participants from 66 countries. The theme was “Implementing AIM” and the event garnered the support of His Royal Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), chairman of Dubai Airports, and CEO of Middle Eastern airline Emirates.
The event concentrates on the transition from AIS to AIM, and set the stage for the skyguide-COMSOFT announcement.
COMSOFT presented the company’s CADAS AIM solution and highlighted the challenges an ANSP faces when implementing the individual steps of the ICAO AIS to AIM roadmap.
CADAS-AIMDB is the central Aeronautical Information Management database with native AIXM 5.1 implementation. As a direct result of their strong cooperation during skyguide’s AIM implementation project phase, the Swiss ANSP and COMSOFT agreed to continue working closely on further improvements. This commitment has now been laid out in a product partnership for CADAS-AIMDB.
The partners will focus on the implementation of dedicated AIM workflows, advanced user interface (UI) concepts for even easier data management, as well as various optimizations to improve the integrated data quality assurance tools well beyond ADQ compliance—leading to higher automation, less work load, and a safer handling of aeronautical information.
