TORONTO, Ontario, 21 Nov. 2014. Star Navigation Systems Group Ltd. and International Communications Group of Newport News, Va., are launching an integrated solution for Status Monitoring, Analysis, Reporting and Tracking System (S.M.A.R.T. AIRCRAFT), a result of the integration between ICG's NxtLink Series of satellite-based flight deck communications systems and the STAR-ISMS.

The S.M.A.R.T. AIRCRAFT solution provides operators with a comprehensive flight deck communications and airframe/flight management solution, providing real-time data that is transformed into added-value information and services, permitting improved fleet and operations management. The system also delivers reliable, global Iridium satellite-based flight deck communications LRC Voice, ACARS, and FANS 1/A CPDLC for both ATS and AOC communications services.

"With this integrated approach, customers can now benefit from a solution that permits an operator to more effectively monitor and manage an individual aircraft or fleet," says Viraf Kapadia, Star Navigation's CEO. "Services such as Graphical flight following with augmented information such as weather or cockpit rendering, total fuel management, exceedances reporting, status and health monitoring, flight and maintenance analysis functions are now available to the Ground crew under one comprehensive system.”

"ICG is always looking to provide additional value and services to our customers. Star Navigations' ISMS system is the perfect complement to the ICG flight deck systems and leverages the additional communications capabilities of the systems to provide a global link for exchanges of critical and valuable performance information, Information that is instrumental to reducing operating costs and permitting more efficient real-time flight management," says Armin Jabs, president of ICG's Commercial Aircraft Systems division.

Star's MMI Division designs and manufactures high-performance, mission-critical, flight deck flat-panel displays for defense and commercial aviation industries worldwide.
