PHOENIX, 19 Jan. 2015. VITA Executive Director Jerry Gipper opened the annual Embedded Tech Trends (ETT) conference in Phoenix today with an overview of global electronics developments. Among them are: ubiquitious computing and the proliferation of digital devices, inexpensive digital storage, connectivity, and the “sensor-ization of technology,” or the trend of “putting sensors on everything.”
At the same time, “drones are kind of a big deal,” Gipper said, quoting USA Today’s coverage of Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas. Gipper and his cohorts recall having seen hundreds of drones, also known as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at CES.
