MADRID, 10 March 2015. Officials at the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) and Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) opened the third edition of the World Air Traffic Management (ATM) Congress today in Madrid, Spain.

ATCA President Peter F. Dumont, CANSO Director General Jeff Poole opened the annual air traffic control/air traffic management (ATC/ATM) event, and introduced Spanish ATM leaders -- Julio Gomez-Pomar, president of ENAIRE, the public body that owns and operates the majority of airports in Spain, and Ana Maria Pastor Julian, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Spain – who described local ATC/ATM activities.

The 2015 conference and exhibition boasts a number of new additions, including four presentation theaters and the WiMAX Aviation 2015 Forum, which has drawn more than 750 registered participants. More than 100 countries are represented this year, with delegates walking the floor from China, Thailand, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. More than 28 vendors are exhibiting at World ATM Congress for the first time this year.

The Innovation, Control, and Optimization with Drones (ICO Drones) display on the exhibition floor is designed to ease the learning curve and introduce new tools for aerospace engineering, aircraft maintenance, and piloting.
