DALLAS, Texas, 14 April 2015. Dallas Avionics engineers have equipped an Australian Airvan GA-8 aircraft for a California-based law enforcement agency in conjunction with Air Bear Tactical Aircraft (Air Bear).

The Airvan GA-8 single-engined utility aircraft, manufactured by GippsAero (formerly Gippsland Aeronautics) of Victoria, Australia, can seat eight, including the pilot. is equipped with a wide array of electronic components specifically designed for law enforcement missions. The interior boasts the latest Garmin glass panel systems and navigation, Technisonic P25-compliant TDFM 9300 and TFM 30 multiband radios, Flightcell DZMx systems with remote head, and Powersonix PA speakers. At the same time, the mission-specialized aircraft’s Comant antennas insure that communications reach multiple agencies.

“Our customer came to us with specific needs for their aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions,” explains Air Bear Director of Business Development Gary Bushouse. “Our custom Airvan solution met all their requirements and needs. Our team at Air Bear has extensive ISR, and law enforcement experience and product knowledge.”

Much of the equipment for the Air Bear Airvan came from Dallas Avionics, which trains and supports law enforcement nationwide, officials say.

“This complex ISR aircraft avionics suite is a prime example of what we strive to provide for our customers,” affirms Nick Cain, a representative of Dallas Avionics. “When Air Bear approached us with their needs, we did not just offer them one or two products. We offered them an entire solution. The end customer has the unique responsibility to support a large number of law enforcement agencies. The latest avionics that enabled Air Bear to equip this ISR aircraft, will position the statewide agency to provide the ground-based officers the support needed to safely and effectively complete their duties.”

This is the first aircraft of this type in California. Both Air Bear and Dallas Avionics have plans for similar completions for law enforcement agencies in the future.

Dallas Avionics Inc. was founded in 1973 as a Wholesale Distributor of Aircraft Electronics, Installation Supplies, and Avionics.
