PARIS, 15 June 2015. Parker Aerospace has designed and developed an intelligent AC hydraulic motor pump power controller and monitor for the commercial aircraft market.

The controller offers customers a multitude of intelligent capabilities, such as monitoring internal and external temperatures to prevent dangerous overheating of the box and motor pump. It also monitors and evaluates motor speed to optimize start up, protecting the motor and the aircraft power system. In addition, it provides SMART external control signals to aircraft systems, including letting the aircraft know when conditions are not acceptable, thus preventing the motor from starting.

Parker’s DO178- and DO254-compatible controller technologies include solid-state switches with no moving parts, a broad operational temperature range, robust lightning proof capability, and electromagnetic interference compatibility for composite aircraft.

The explosion-proof controller box is environmentally sealed and ruggedly designed for use in an aircraft’s landing gear bay. Its proprietary integrated sensors are accurate and compact with monitors for power quality, reading and evaluating frequency and current.

The self-monitoring controller reports status to the aircraft system operating environment and is able to operate in high humidity without affecting performance or life. In addition, it is vibration- and corrosion-resistant and is electromagnetic interference compatible with composite aircraft.
