HAMBURG, Germany, 4 Aug. 2015. Officials at Air Europa Lineas Aéreas S.A.U. (AEA), a private airline in Spain, have entered into a comprehensive, long-term component supply agreement with Lufthansa Technik AG, an international provider of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, for the airline's future fleet of up to 22 Boeing 787 commercial passenger jet aircraft.

The Total Component Support (TCS) agreement covers airframe- and engine-related component overhaul, engineering services, as well as pooling and Home Base Lease. Lufthansa Technik facilities in Frankfurt and Hamburg will fulfill the component supply portion of the contract agreement. The contract will start with the arrival of the first 787 in March 2016.

"For Air Europa, assurance in quality and flight safety is a key topic," affirms Alberto Linés, Air Europa Maintenance & Engineering Director. "In the past, we made good experience with Lufthansa Technik's support in different technical services. This is the reason why we have decided to expand our partnership with Lufthansa Technik to component services for our new Boeing 787 fleet, the future core of our long-haul operation."

"We are extremely proud that Air Europa has put its trust in our capabilities to deliver the optimal component services for the new Boeing 787 fleet, making the airline our first 787 customer in Europa," says Georgios Ouzounidis, director of sales for Europe, at Lufthansa Technik. "This contract signature is the latest milestone in our long-lasting partnership which started in 2002. We will do our best to help ensure that Air Europa continues to meet its customers' expectations of providing a highly reliable product."

Since 2002 Air Europa has contracted Lufthansa Technik with different maintenance, repair, and overhaul services. Currently, Lufthansa Technik is providing landing gear services for the airline's Boeing 737NG and Airbus A330 fleets and is also executing overhaul services for a certain number of CFM56-7 engines. Lufthansa Technik Aero Alzey is overhauling the CF34-10 engines of Air Europa's Embraer E-195 Fleet.

Air Europa, founded in 1986, is the airline of Globalia Corporacion Empresarial, one of the largest touristic groups in Spain with its headquarter in Palma de Mallorca. Air Europa is full member of the Sky Team alliance and operates over 170 daily flights on domestic, European, North African, and Trans Atlantic routes with Madrid as its major hub. Its fleet comprises of 14 Airbus A330, 20 Boeing 737NG, and 11 Embraer E-195 aircraft; the company will add 22 new Boeing 787 from 2016.

The Lufthansa Technik Group, with more than 30 subsidiaries and associates and over 26,000 employees worldwide, is a provider of technical services for the aviation industry. Its portfolio encompasses the entire spectrum of services for commercial aircraft: maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and conversion, engines, and components.
