ASHBURN, Va., 17 Aug. 2015. The Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions Division in Ashburn, Va., is introducing an enhanced version of its rugged CNS4 Compact Network Storage subsystem for military avionics applications that require high-speed data recording, cryptography and removable storage.

The device supports Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Serial FPDP and other interfaces. This rugged, high-capacity data recorder ensures the integrity of critical data in demanding military applications like aircraft transports, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, and mobile radar systems.

With its high-density storage capacity, broad support for several network protocols and encryption capabilities, the CNS4 enables system designers to address all of their data recording requirements with a single solution, eliminating the need for separate, several data recorders.

To support modern avionics and sensor management systems, the CNS4 is designed to support various I/O interfaces. In addition to its four (4) built-in Gigabit Ethernet ports, CNS4 also provides a 3U VPX slot for additional I/O.

The modular CNS4 can be configured with as many as four Curtiss-Wright Flash Storage Modules (FSM-C) in a rugged, conduction-cooled ATR chassis, with capacities to 8 terabytes. Based on industry standard 2.5-inch solid state drives, the FSM-C capacity will increase as the storage capacities SSD drives increase.
