Rugged mission display for avionics applications introduced by Curtiss-Wright

ASHBURN, Va., 7 Sept. 2015. The Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions Division in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the 10.4-inch PVDU2600 low-cost rugged LCD mission display for SWaP-C constrained applications in fixed-wing aircraft amd helicopter avionics, as well as tactical ground vehicle instruments.

Defense Solutions Division in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the 10.4-inch PVDU2600 low-cost rugged LCD mission display for SWaP-C constrained applications in fixed-wing aircraft amd helicopter avionics, as well as tactical ground vehicle instruments.

The touchscreen display combines high brightness and rugged construction with options for the Intel Atom E3800, Core i3-4010U, Core i5-4300U, or Core i7-4650U embedded microprocessors.

The display measures 9.6 by 7.9 by 3.2 inches, weighs 8.8 pounds, and offers 1024-by-768-pixel resolution for applications that require small size, weight, power consumption, and cost (SWaP-C).

Built for optimal performance in harsh environments, the non-ITAR PVDU2600 is designed to meet DO-160 and MIL-STD-810/461 testing requirements. The unit is built to AS9100 quality-certified manufacturing services in a UK MoD Design Approval Organisation Scheme (DAOS) certified facility.

This display has sealed, optically bonded glass for durability, and brightness of 1,000 candel per square meter (cd/m2). It has NVIS-compatible dual-LED backlighting to ensure optimal viewability, day or night, in all light conditions.

The PVDU2600 can run demanding applications, including real-time video decompression and display, moving maps, and mission computing. User-written code can define aspects of the display's operation including the ability to define soft keys activated within the touchscreen-controlled area.

The PVDU2600's optional embedded processor enables the system integrator to select from a range of processor and memory options, and supports the Windows, Linux and VxWorks operating systems. Customer-developed software can be hosted using built-in flash storage. The display also can run an X Windows server to support remote graphics applications via its Ethernet connection.
