Alaskan officials opt for Erickson medium-lift helicopters for fire suppression

PORTLAND, Ore., 24 March 2016. Erickson Inc. (NASDAQ:EAC), a global provider of aviation services in Portland, Oregon, won two exclusive-use contracts with the State of Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources for wildfire suppression. Under the contracts – for one year with four additional option years – Erickson will provide two medium-lift helicopters: one based in Palmer and another in Fairbanks.

Over the years, Erickson’s Alaska operations have supported a variety of industries. The company has provided transport of passengers and cargo for near-shore oil and gas customers in the Cook Inlet and North Slope as well as provided an aerial school bus for rural students. In Nome, Erickson transports residents to the Western-most point of the United States, the island of Little Diomede. The company also has worked on utility and infrastructure construction outside of Anchorage.
