Lufthansa modernizes crew management with IBS iFlight Crew to boost airline’s dataflow, efficiency

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, 5 April 2016. Officials at IBS Software, an IT solutions provider to the global aviation industry with offices in Atlanta, Georgia, has inked a multimillion-euro deal to modernize Lufthansa’s crew management system. Lufthansa officials selected IBS Software to replace its legacy Unisys-based crew management applications, which the airline has used for the past 30 years, with IBS Software's iFlight Crew crew-management solution.

Once implemented, the iFlight Crew upgrade will be an important step for Lufthansa to modernize their crew management system, officials describe. As part of this implementation, more than 40 inbound/outbound interfaces will be built to facilitate seamless dataflow to existing crew management applications.

IBS' airline crew management system, iFlight Crew, is an integrated software package which determines the most cost-effective use of airline crew at every stage from tactical manpower management through day-of-operations execution to disruption recovery. The solution is designed to support all types of airlines in all geographies and aligned to the industry-defined best practices of crew management.

IBS's iFlight Crew solution powers some of the leading airlines, including Emirates, British Airways, KLM, Jet Airways, and Virgin Atlantic, company officials say.
