MIDDLETOWN, Conn., 18 May 2016. The Memory Division of Kaman Precision Products Inc., designer and manufacturer of digital storage systems and media for military and aerospace applications, is launching its Model 9740 Complete Data Storage Solution for use in severe environments and applications, including military jet fighter aircraft.

A complete data storage solution, Model 9740 includes an electronics module, a ground station adapter with encryption key enabled, and encryption key programmer. The Model 9740 features the new Kaman SATA card, with a unique ruggedized design, small form factor, high memory density, and on-card encryption providing data-at-rest functionality. The Kaman SATA card is hermetically sealed to enable it to withstand even the most severe military environments.

Four 10/100/ 1000 Mb Ethernet channels provide high-speed data transfers; NAS functions such as NFS, FTP, TFTP, and DHCP Server protocols; and TCP/IP and UDP transport layer protocols. The system’s throughput rate is 50 megabytes per second sustained.

Heat ladders within the Model 9740 ensure that the device can withstand temperatures from -40˚C to 71˚C. It has a superior mechanical design that enables it to withstand harsh conditions, with a vibration endurance rating of 3.89 GRMS and a crash safety shock rating of 30G peak.

The Model 9740 is compliant with MIL-STD-810 for altitude, humidity, sand and dust, salt spray, and explosive atmosphere and with MIL-STD-461f for EMI/EMC.

The system requires low power, with a 22-watt maximum at an input of 28 volts. It supports sanitize algorithms including support for NAVSO 5239-26, NSA 9-12, AFSIS 5020, and DOD 5220.22-M. The unit is available with up to 2 TB of total storage capacity.

For more than 40 years, Kaman Precision Memory Products has designed and manufactured high-performance digital storage systems and media for military and aerospace applications. Our advanced, ruggedized memory systems are designed to survive the extreme temperature and vibration environments in a range of industries. As a full service life-cycle management organization, we support products well past maturity and provide complete logistics support for service and repair applications. Working in concert with customer engineering groups, we identify the best technology for an application and subsequently create a data transfer unit for each specific application.

Part of Kaman Corporation headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut, Kaman Precision Memory Products designs and manufactures our products at a state of the art production facility that meets AS9100/B and ISO 9001:2000 quality management system requirements.
