FRANKFURT HAHN AIRPORT, Germany, 27 May 2016. Maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider HAITEC Aircraft Maintenance at Frankfurt Hahn Airport in Germany has selected Honeywell (NYSE:HON) in Westerville, Ohio, to supply a range of avionics products to the company’s VIP, large-cabin aircraft operators to help maximize passenger safety and comfort.

HAITEC now offers Honeywell’s range of cabin and cockpit solutions for new and retrofit Airbus Corporate Jets, Boeing Business Jets, and Gulfstream G550 / G650 jets from its Erfurt facility. HAITEC customers can now benefit from Honeywell technologies, including IntuVue 3D Weather Radar and the SmartTraffic Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) -- cockpit solutions designed to decrease flight delays and maximize passenger comfort and safety by giving pilots better situational awareness of conditions around them. Honeywell will also provide its Ovation Select Cabin Management System, which puts lighting, seat, temperature and galley controls at the fingertips of business jet travelers while enabling them to stay comfortable and engaged at 40,000 feet.

“As the global business jet market continues to face sluggish growth, many operators are investing in strategic retrofits and upgrades for their existing fleets, fueling aftermarket opportunities,” says Brian Sill, president, Commercial Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace. “For maintenance firms like HAITEC, providing access to Honeywell’s broad range of cockpit and cabin solutions gives customers the opportunity to balance business growth with offering an improved passenger experience.”

The agreement builds on Honeywell’s existing arrangement with HAITEC to develop a Supplemental Type Certificate for Honeywell’s JetWave hardware for two Airbus 319 corporate jets owned and operated by HAITEC customer Tyrolean Jet Services. The agreement, inked in 2014, marked the first business aviation operator to select JetWave for fast, reliable in-flight Wi-Fi.

“This agreement signifies the next step in our relationship with Honeywell, enabling us to further expand our services from the commercial aviation market to our business jet customers,” says Frank Rott, CEO, HAITEC. “As operators look to modernize their fleets, they can have access to the latest in avionics technology, helping pilots to improve the flying experience and meeting growing passenger expectations in the cabin.”

In addition to IntuVue 3D Weather Radar, SmartTraffic TCAS, and Ovation Select Cabin Management System technologies, HAITEC customers can enhance their airplanes with additional Honeywell avionics, including:

The Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS), pioneered by Honeywell, prevents controlled flight-into-terrain incidents by monitoring terrain and obstacles near the aircraft.

SmartRunway and SmartLanding increases the situational awareness of flight crews during taxi, takeoff and landing, helping to stabilize approaches and decrease the risk of runway incursions and excursions.

Next-Generation Flight Management Systems provide pilots with the very latest data to enhance decision-making that reduces fuel costs, streamlines pilot workload, and meets the latest regulatory compliance and airspace requirements.
