PROVIDENCE, R.I., 8 July 2016. Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) has expanded its family of strong aviation and military brands with Textron Airborne Solutions, participating at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) and the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) next week.

Textron Airborne Solutions Inc. (formerly Textron Advanced Aviation Training Inc.) is developing a live air training business that initially includes ATAC (Airborne Tactical Advantage Company), recently acquired by Textron. ATAC is focused on training military pilots, ship crews, and ground support forces in fighter tactics, carrier strike group defense, and air-to-ground strike control. The business seeks to add additional training service offerings and businesses over the coming months.

“The tactical live air training market is vibrant and expanding, and the acquisition of ATAC gives us a tremendous platform from which to grow,” says Russ Bartlett, CEO of Textron Airborne Solutions. “U.S. and allied militaries are increasingly taking advantage of the significant cost and operational benefits that are derived from outsourcing airborne training services.”

The benefits of outsourcing tactical air services include reduction on wear and tear of existing combat aircraft, preservation of combat readiness, significant cost savings per flight hour over organic combat aircraft, and the enabling of military pilots to focus on operations training support functions.

Textron Airborne Solutions focuses on live military air-to-air and air-to-ship training and support services. Within Textron Airborne Solutions is Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC), a business that provides tactical flight training and adversary aggressor services for U.S. Navy, Marine and Air Force pilots. ATAC comprises the world's largest outsourced civilian, tactical airborne training organization and proudly provides the highest quality live training to squadrons, Air Wings, and Battle Groups. ATAC is the only civilian organization approved to train the U.S. Navy's elite Fighter Weapons School, also known as "TOPGUN", and is the only civilian organization to train the USAF's F-22 Raptors.

Textron Inc. is a multi-industry company that leverages its global network of aircraft, defense, industrial, and finance businesses to provide customers with innovative solutions and services. Textron is known around the world for its powerful brands such as Bell Helicopter, Cessna, Beechcraft, Hawker, Jacobsen, Kautex, Lycoming, E-Z-GO, Greenlee, Bad Boy Off Road, Textron Systems, and TRU Simulation + Training.
