FARNBOROUGH, England, 14 July 2016. AGC AeroComposites in Hayden, Idaho, has reached an agreement with Rockwell Collins to extend AGC’s production of the Binocular Optical Support Structure (BOSS), a key assembly in the F-35 Gen III Helmet Mounted Display System supporting the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Program, through multiple low-rate initial production sequences.

Engineering, production, and subcontracts personnel from both Rockwell Collins and AGC worked together to achieve significant improvements in performance and capacity positioning AGC to support the ramp-up in the F-35 build rates. Working together over the past year has paved the way for delivery commitments critical to the overall F-35 Program.

It is estimated that more than 2,500 F-35s will be manufactured to support the U.S. military and its allies.

“The F-35 is a flagship aerospace program, and its Helmet Mounted Display Systems provide pilots with unprecedented situational awareness,” explains Mark Withrow, vice president and general manager of AGC’s Hayden, Idaho, facility. “The components we manufacture for the program are critical to its success.” In addition to this work supporting Rockwell Collins, AGC supplies critical composite hardware for many of the world’s most recognized aerospace platforms.

AGC AeroComposites supplies the aerospace and defense industry with composite and metallic aerostructures and components. The company’s global footprint is comprised of strategically located sites providing local and immediate support to customers. Integrated solutions range from early stage design, rate production, to full-term sustainment making AGC AeroComposites the industry’s trusted lifecycle partner.
