WEBINAR on Tues., 20 Sept. 2016. Register today to attend a free webinar on Tuesday, 20 September 2016 on selecting relays to optimize system performance, and understanding operating principles for electromechanical and solid-state relays/contactors.

Engineers at TE Connectivity, designer and manufacturer of connectivity and sensor solutions for aerospace & defense, will discuss the following topics:

- Electromechanical vs. solid-state relays

- Electromechanical actuator types and electromechanical magnetic circuits

- Design considerations for electromechanical vs. solid-state

- Relay terminology

- Coil drive circuits for electromechanica relays/contactors

- Coil economizer circuits

- Methods of reducing coil power consumption

- Application errors

- Questions from the live audience

Register online now for the “Relay Selections for Optimizing Performance” webinar to be held on Tuesday, 20 Sept. 2016 at 2 pm Eastern Time (11 am Pacific Time).

During the event, subject-matter experts will:

  • Explain the interactions of controlling power and the application environment for relays.
  • Provide a brief relay design tutorial to help technicians and engineers develop basic skills to allow relay selection versus an application requirement.
  • Share several examples of unintended relay performance issues resulting from what may seem to be insignificant application decisions by electrical equipment designers.
  • Give technical guidance on application requirements shared by the audience.

Speakers:

Karl Kitts
Senior Manager R&D Product Development Engineering
TE Connectivity

Karl leads aerospace and defense relay and contactor development at TE Connectivity. He hold BS and MBA degrees and has worked in relay design for over 30 years. His expertise is in designing high power line contactors for aircraft and power distribution panels. Karl and the AD&M HPG Team develop unique solutions for high voltage power management for modern military fighters, helicopters and large commercial transports.

Marcus Priest
Senior Principal R&D Product Development Engineer
TE Connectivity

Marcus has been with TE Connectivity since 1991. He has been involved in the design and development of High Voltage DC contactors and relays, as well as various other duties within the Manufacturing and Quality Engineering departments. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a Certified Black Belt in Lean Design for Six Sigma.

Rob Stangenberg
Field Application Engineer
TE Connectivity

Rob joined TE Connectivity in 2008. His 45 year career in the electronics industry has focused on product management, sales and application of high reliability relays, contactors and associated power protection and power distribution equipment. Rob currently supports the AD&M Western US Region direct sales force and distribution partners as the FAE for relay and power distribution equipment applications and product training for TE’s CII, Hartman and Kilovac product lines.
