Logos Technologies debuts ultra-light Redkite airborne sensor for border patrol, defense, public safety

FAIRFAX, Va. Logos Technologies in Fairfax, Virginia, is introducing a new version of its lightweight Redkite wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) airborne sensor for defense, public safety, and border security missions. Company engineers reduced the weight of the already low-weight Redkite sensor line, adapting the latest version for the internal payload of a small Group 3 unmanned aircraft system (UAS), commonly called drones.

Company engineers reduced the weight of the already low-weight Redkite sensor line, adapting the latest version for the internal payload of a small Group 3 unmanned aircraft system (UAS), commonly called drones.

Designed to operate at 12,000 feet above ground level, the Redkite WAMI system can image a whole city-sized area all at once, detecting and simultaneously tracking in real time, while also recording events for later analysis.

Redkite’s greater than 50-megapixel camera can image an area up to four kilometers in diameter. From within this expansive field of view, operators can retrieve up to 10 select video feeds, and stream them down to hundreds of desktop computers, tablets, or other mobile devices in real time.

In its pod form, Redkite weighs less than 35 pounds (15 kilograms) and can be mounted on a variety of helicopters, planes, and UAS.
