Rockwell Collins delivers Iridium SATCOM units to Boeing for 737 MAX flight deck, cabin communications

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has delivered its first Iridium ICS-300 satellite communications (SATCOM) units to Boeing for its 737 MAX commercial aircraft. Rockwell Collins’ SATCOM solution, the only one approved for Boeing platforms, provides long-range voice capabilities as well as data link communications to help improve operational efficiency.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has delivered its first Iridium ICS-300 satellite communications (SATCOM) units to Boeing for its 737 MAX commercial aircraft. Rockwell Collins’ SATCOM solution, the only one approved for Boeing platforms, provides long-range voice capabilities as well as data link communications to help improve operational efficiency.

The Rockwell Collins ICS-300 voice and data link communications system connects to the Iridium network, designed to provide real-time, reliable, long-range communications and safety services data link capability with true global coverage, anywhere on the planet.

The ICS-300 advanced voice and data link communications system operates over the Iridium satellite network to provide global coverage and reliable communications between the ground and aircraft, enabling enhanced routing and coordination between the flight crew and operations.

The Iridium constellation includes 66 low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, enabling real-time communications anywhere on the planet, and extends coverage to polar and all remote airspaces.
