BIRD Aerosystems PODs protect commercial, military, business jets from missiles

PARIS AIR SHOW. BIRD Aerosystems, a developer of Special Mission Aircraft Solutions (ASIO) and Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS), is presenting AeroShield POD in its full configuration – designed to protect narrow- and wide-body aircraft and VIP business jets (bizjets) – for the first time at the Paris Air Show.

PARIS AIR SHOW. BIRD Aerosystems, a developer of Special Mission Aircraft Solutions (ASIO) and Airborne Missile Protection Systems (AMPS), is presenting AeroShield POD in its full configuration – designed to protect narrow- and wide-body aircraft and VIP business jets (bizjets) – for the first time at the Paris Air Show.

In its full configuration, the AeroShield POD is available with BIRD Aerosystems' SPREOS Directional Infra-Red Counter Measure (DIRCM) solution, supporting protection by both DIRCM and flares.

The AeroShield POD, already fully operational and in use, was designed to provide comprehensive anti-missile aircraft protection. It integrates the full AMPS system into an all-in-one POD solution, which includes BIRD's SPREOS Directional Infra-Red Counter Measure (DIRCM) as well as Missile Launch Detection Sensors (MILDS) and additional Flare Dispensers.

Easily installed, BIRD's AEROSHIELD POD provides platform protection with minimal interference to the aircraft, while complying with EASA/FAA civil aviation regulation procedures. Using the AMPS-MV advanced configuration which ensures a Zero False Alarm rate, the AEROSHIELD POD is well suited for wide body aircraft, such as the A320, B737, B777, A380, and more, and can be easily transferred between different aircraft.

In addition, BIRD Aerosystems together with Textron Aviation Inc., will present a unique CJ4 ASIO Special Mission Aircraft (SMA) solution that combines BIRD’s field-proven ASIO solution and Textron Aviation’s Cessna Citation advanced CJ4, which effectively transforms the VIP transport aircraft into a sophisticated Special Mission Aircraft. With added speed and range, the Cessna Citation CJ4 is able to reach points of interest far quicker, and cover a greater mission area, making it ideal as a special mission Jet for both land and maritime surveillance missions.

BIRD Aerosystems' Airborne Surveillance, Intelligence, and Observation (ASIO) solution is a complete end-to-end airborne information, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solution. ASIO provides decision makers and field commanders with accurate, real-time terrestrial and maritime information. Integrated with BIRD’s unique Mission Management System and using the latest surveillance and monitoring sensors, the ASIO solution can be installed on a wide range of aircraft and is a complete yet customizable airborne operational system.

The company is presenting together with Textron Aviation “the ASIO CJ4 SMA Citation solution which is a unique Special mission aircraft solution that enables users to enjoy extraordinary aircraft capabilities along with a comprehensive multi-sensor configuration that support diverse operational missions,” says Ronen Factor, co-chief executive officer and founder, BIRD Aerosystems. “The CJ4 ASIO solution ensures a unified and comprehensive situational awareness picture for the entire task force in the air and on the ground and enables decision makers to make critical operational decisions in real time.”
