JCATI brings NASA Space Technology Mission Directorate official to Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. Joint Center for Aerospace Technology Innovation (JCATI) officials in Seattle, Washington, have added James Reuter, deputy associate administrator for programs at NASA Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) as a keynote speaker at the 2018 JCATI symposium. Additional speakers include experts on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), composite technology, aircraft propulsion, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) technology.
SPOKANE, Wash. Joint Center for Aerospace Technology Innovation (JCATI) officials in Seattle, Washington, have added James Reuter, deputy associate administrator for programs at NASA Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) as a keynote speaker at the 2018 JCATI symposium, scheduled to take place 12 April 2018 at the Spokane Convention Center in downtown Spokane, Washington. Additional speakers include experts on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), composite technology, aircraft propulsion, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) technology.

JCATI provides funding for Washington academic-industry collaborations creating cutting-edge aerospace technology. The symposium is a unique forum to network with industry, government, academia, and non-profits, officials say.

Reuter manages the technology programs within STMD and serves as final authority for project content. He has received numerous NASA awards, including a 2013 NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal and a 1998 Silver Snoopy Award.

Confirmed expert speakers include:

  • JC Claridge, XCraft (UAV)
  • James Del Pinto, Zodiac Aerospace (composite technology)
  • Jean-Michel Hillion, Safran (aircraft propulsion)
  • Dragos Margineantu, Boeing (AI/machine learning)
  • Mark Simon, Exotic Metals (MRO technology)

The symposium also includes a student pitch contest, during which students each have two minutes to describe JCATI projects.

Attendees are invited to “network, meet the next generation of aerospace workers, and learn how JCATI can help” their business.
