JCATI Symposium focuses on unmanned and electric aircraft, AI, propulsion, and composite technologies

SPOKANE, Wash. Officials at the Joint Center for Aerospace Technology Innovation (JCATI), which provides funding for Washington-state, academic-industry collaborations creating cutting-edge aerospace technology, welcomed industry, government, academia, and non-profit professionals to the 2018 JCATI Symposium this morning at the Spokane Convention Center in Spokane, Washington. Intelligent Aerospace Editor Courtney E. Howard reports from the conference at which NASA, Zodiac Aerospace, Safran, Boeing, and other aerospace innovators discuss unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), propulsion, composites, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) technologies.

The keynote speaker is:

David Steitz, NASA Acting Deputy Chief Technologist
Steitz is responsible for the management and programs within the Office of the Chief Technologist at NASA Headquarters. He directs the work of both the strategic integration and innovation teams within the office.

Confirmed expert speakers include:

  • JC Claridge, XCraft (UAV)
  • James Del Pinto, Zodiac Aerospace (composite technology)
  • Jean-Michel Hillion, Safran (electric aircraft)
  • Dragos Margineantu, Boeing (AI/machine learning)

Also happening at the Symposium: Students have two minutes to describe JCATI projects in the student pitch contest.
